London, UK: The management team behind Festival of Media – the global hub that brings together global marketers, media owners and agencies, offering a unique platform for insight and networking – have announced the formation of a new first-of-its-kind independent business to business awards programme, The GameFacers.
The Gamefacers will be launched to recognise and make heroes out of the global esports sector. The awards will give esports teams and organisations the opportunity to showcase themselves to global brands, whilst benchmarking the best talent, campaigns, events, content and venues in the industry.
Entries will be judged by a diverse, industry leading panel of esports and media experts that includes:
Jonny Shaw (Chief Strategy Officer, VCCP)
Simon Peel (Global Media Director, Adidas)
Linn Frost (Head of Brand and Acquisition, Virgin Red)
Tejas Apte (Global Media Director, Unilever)
and Katrina Palanca (Director of Sponsorship Operations, Twitch)
It will also feature professional esports players, the founder of BlackGirlGamers, academics and an esports psychologist.
The awards will be judged using the same standards and criteria used in the prestigious Festival of Media Global Awards – the only awards to celebrate the best media campaigns from around the globe, now in its 15th year.
Commenting on the launch, Festival of Media CEO and GameFace Co-founder, Jeremy King said:
“There are lots of brands already activating in esports, whilst lots of teams and organisations are creating and delivering industry leading work – but there was no objective way of celebrating or showcasing that to one another. Our solution was to create a first-ever independent awards programme that would recognise these heroes, and act as a platform for further growth in the sector.”
