Midwest Recruiting Showcase: ISHEN & SPIN Ink Partnership to Create Pathway to College Event
Stay Plugged IN (SPIN) has partnered with the Indiana High School Esports Network (IHSEN) to host a multi-state recruiting event on April 30th called the Midwest Recruiting Showcase Presented by SPIN & IHSEN. The showcase will encompass the game titles of Rocket League and Overwatch with all matches being streamed LIVE to Twitch. Best of all, the Midwest Recruiting Showcase is FREE for all participants including high school teams, individual free agents, and college esports coaches.
“We are in the heart of primetime for college esports recruiting,” said Alex Cummings, SPIN Director of Marketing, “The Midwest is a hotbed for both high school and college esports right now and what better way to get students excited about esports and potentially recruited to play in college than a multi-state recruiting showcase.”
The Spring is primetime for college esports recruiting as coaches are looking to fill their final roster spots for the Fall 2021 semester. High school juniors should note that is a great opportunity to play in front of college esports coaches to get their names on some recruiting boards for 2022 to begin the recruiting process for the next school year. Not to be forgotten, high school freshmen and sophomores should also participate in the showcase to get their names out there at an early age and also be attended to collegiate recruiting boards. Freshman and Sophomores have the unique advantage of time to play over years of competitions to not only showcase their abilities, but also the growth over time.
“Carmel Esports is thrilled to have another opportunity to not only prove ourselves in competition but highlight the individual strengths of our students,” said Dylan Gentilcore, Head Coach at Carmel High School, “Being able to showcase our students talents to some of the best collegiate programs in the nation through this exciting new collaboration between SPIN and IHSEN have us very excited for April 30th!”
Midwest Recruiting Showcase Event Structure:
Rocket League and Overwatch are two of the most played games in the Midwest, especially in Indiana. The IHSEN has 8 divisions of Rocket League currently being played in the Spring 2021 semester. Overwatch currently has 4 divisions for IHSEN competition with over two dozen high school esports teams participating.
Dozens of colleges from around the Midwest will be actively participating and recruiting high school juniors and seniors. All participating players will play in 3 matches commencing at the top of the hour (6pm, 7pm, 8pm EST) with all matches being streamed LIVE to Twitch.
“Kankakee Valley High School’s Kougar Esports team as well as IHSEN are very excited to be participating in this collaboration with SPIN,” said Nathan Stall, Kougar Esports Sponsors, “It will allow us to connect our students to even more colleges than ever before!”
