Summer Finals will return to an international stage for the first time since Athens 2019 and we can’t wait to welcome you back. Tickets will be available for purchase on July 1 at lec.gg/malmo and will go live during RDYCHK, so tune in and purchase your tickets. We’re excited to celebrate the Summer Finals with you in an action-filled arena, so bring your poro poms and get ready to support your favourite players.
“We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we will be hosting our 2022 Summer Finals in Malmö, Sweden. Being the first roadshow we’ve hosted away from our Berlin studio in three years, we can’t wait to give the fans an unforgettable experience. We’re pleased to be working with the City of Malmö again and look forward to bringing the breathtaking atmosphere to their city.” said Maximilian Schmidt, Head of League of Legends Esports in EMEA.
We haven’t ventured to Sweden since the LEC Finals in Stockholm in 2015 and we’re hoping to bring that same excitement back to the country. From Rekkles’ infamous Tristana pentakill in game three, to Origen’s impressive comeback in game four to force Silver Scrapes in a gripping five game series between Fnatic and Origen. We’re ecstatic to return to the country and show Malmö the best the LEC has to offer.
“We are incredibly proud to have the League of Legends European Championship in Malmö. This again shows that Malmö is an event and gaming city to be reckoned with,” said Mats Schöld, Head of Events at Department of Leisure, Recreation and Sport at the City of Malmö.
All of the main action will take place in the Malmö Arena and there’s no doubt you’ll be in for a hell of a show when three of the LEC’s best teams step onto that stage to face off for the honour of being named LEC Champions. Will G2 Esports be able to win back to back or will Fnatic win their first LEC title since Summer 2018 in the country where they rounded off their prestigious 18-0 season? Or, will another LEC contender claim victory on the rift? We can’t wait to find out! We’ve also got exciting plans for the LEC XPO at the nearby MalmöMässan Exhibition & Congress Center, that we’ll be telling you more about in the coming weeks on lolesports, so keep an eye out.
