Following a successful inaugural edition of the Mobile Game Tournament in August 2020, organizers the Lagos ESports Forum (LESF) and The AfroGamer have announced a Season 2 in October, 2020.
The first season featured over 250 mobile gamers taking part in 3 mobile games – Ludo King, 8 Ball Pool and Naija Whot played over 3 weeks with winners and runners up rewarded with cash and other prizes.
In a joint press statement to announce plans to go ahead with the season 2, Sayo Owolabi, Founder of Lagos ESports Forum (LESF) said that mobile gaming is a great way to engage both casual, hyper-casual and pro-gamers beyond the many challenges associated with console or PC gaming. He further stated that “there has been a yearning by mobile gamers for something competitive and that is the gap we have bridged with the Mobile Game Tournament”.
The organizers also confimed that players will compete in 4 different games in the season 2 of the tournament. According to Ife Akintaju, CEO of The AfroGamer, Ludo King and 8 Ball Pool will make a return while Soccer Stars and Call Of Duty (COD) mobile are added to complete the roster of mobile games to be competed in.
The first season of the Mobile Game Tournament enjoyed Corporate Sponsorship from Alat by Wema Bank and KFC Nigeria.
